A gas boiler service is one of the cheapest ways to protect your heating, your safety and your boiler warranty. But prices vary a lot across Dublin, and a low headline price doesn't always mean a full service. Here's what you can expect to pay in 2026 and what you should get for your money.
Typical boiler service prices in Dublin
Across Dublin, a standard annual gas boiler service typically costs between €100 and €150, including VAT. Nationally, prices range from roughly €70 to €180, with Dublin usually at the higher end because of travel and labour costs in the city.
- Standard annual gas boiler service: usually €100–€150 in Dublin
- Service plus minor parts (for example a seal or a gasket): expect a small extra charge for the part
- Repairs found during the service: quoted separately, and a good engineer will always tell you the price before doing any extra work
These are typical market prices, not a fixed quote. For our own current price, see our prices page or call us on 0872 855 624.
What a proper boiler service should include
A real service takes around an hour and involves more than a quick look. A registered engineer should:
- Check the boiler is working correctly and safely, and look for signs of leaks, damage or corrosion
- Run a flue gas analysis to check the burner is combusting properly and isn't producing dangerous levels of carbon monoxide
- Test the flue and check ventilation
- Check gas pressure and carry out a gas soundness (leak) test
- Clean the key internal parts where needed, such as the burner and heat exchanger
- Check the system pressure, controls and safety devices
- Give you a certificate for the work carried out
If a service is very cheap and takes 15 minutes, some of these checks are being skipped.
Why the cheapest price can cost more
A rushed service can miss small faults that later turn into breakdowns, usually on the coldest day of the year. It can also leave you without the paperwork your boiler manufacturer needs to honour the warranty. Most manufacturers require an annual service by a qualified engineer to keep the warranty valid.
Only use a Registered Gas Installer
In Ireland, the law requires anyone carrying out domestic gas work, including a boiler service, to be a Registered Gas Installer (RGI). Always ask to see the engineer's RGI ID card, and make sure you receive a certificate when the job is done. You can read more in our guide on how to check your gas engineer is registered.
When is the best time to book?
Late spring and summer are the quietest months, so it's easier to get an appointment and you go into winter knowing the boiler is ready. Once the weather turns in October and November, engineers get booked up quickly.
